Confession Prayer Week of March 16, 2025
Call to Confession:
As we enter into a time of confession together, let’s prepare our hearts by hearing these words from 2 Corinthians 8:
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.
Prayer of Confession:
Almighty God,
From age to age you are faithful to your promises, and you love to pour out generous blessings on us, your children. We should be filled with so much gratitude over those blessings and devoted to generosity in honor of you.
Yet, we are often stingy in our giving and resentful of the demands that church and people place on our time. Father, forgive us. Jesus, thank you for living each day in perfect gratitude, giving thanks for your daily bread and giving your mind, heart, soul, and strength to serving.
Holy Spirit, teach us to excel in the grace of giving like Jesus. Help our hearts to overflow with generosity to others in response to the abundant grace we have received. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon:
In the scriptures we find assurances of our forgiveness and encouragement in our walk. So hear these words from Ephesians 2 and rest in their truth for us:
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
