Confession Prayer Week of November 16, 2025
Call to Confession:
As we enter into a time of confession together, a way we regularly take seriously our sin and lay it before God, let’s prepare our hearts by hearing these words from Matthew 8:
And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?”
Prayer of Confession:
Loving Heavenly Father, your love for us is relentless and unstoppable. We confess that while our minds understand that you are great in power and love, and while our lips claim to trust you, we are easily undone by small difficulties. Father, forgive us for our lack of faith.
Jesus, thank you for your loving obedience, which covers and protects us even when we run from you. Holy Spirit, thank you for continuing to work in our lives. Open our eyes to the things we need to lay down that we might lift up and generously encourage your people. Teach us to walk in step with you. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon:
In the scriptures we find assurances of our forgiveness and encouragement in our walk. So hear these words from Isaiah 43 and rest in their truth for us…
But now thus says the Lord,
he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name, you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you.
For I am the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
