Confession Prayer Week of March 2, 2025

Call to Confession: 

As we enter into a time of confession together, let’s prepare our hearts by hearing these words from John 13:

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.  By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Prayer of Confession: 

God of glory and love,

You have loved us from the beginning with a love so big sometimes it is hard to imagine. Before we even took our first breath, you sent your son Jesus to save us from the sin we get lost in. Father, forgive us this week for those sins.

Holy Spirit, we need your strength and mercy to love others well. Soften our hearts to the love you have for us that we might extend that love to others. In Jesus’ name we pray for this simple but often hard task, Amen.

Assurance of Pardon: 

In the scriptures we find assurances of our forgiveness and encouragement in our walk. So hear these words from 1 John 4 and rest in their truth for us:

Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.  No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.
