Confession Prayer Week of June 16, 2024

Call to Confession:

As we enter into a time of confession together, let’s prepare our hearts by hearing these words from Psalm 104:

O Lord, how manifold are your works!

    In wisdom have you made them all;

    the earth is full of your creatures.

These all look to you,

    to give them their food in due season.

When you give it to them, they gather it up;

    when you open your hand, they are filled with good things.

When you hide your face, they are dismayed;

    when you take away their breath, they die

    and return to their dust.

When you send forth your Spirit, they are created,

    and you renew the face of the ground.

May the glory of the Lord endure forever;

    may the Lord rejoice in his works...

Prayer of Confession:

Heavenly Father, when we measure the blessings of our lives, our minds often drift to tangible things we can see and touch. We take for granted so many things that hold value that you have gifted us with, like our relationships with one another and with you. Lord, forgive us.

Help us to recognize you as the source of all good things, and the source of forgiveness, love, comfort, and the promise of our future with you. Thank you for the ways you continually draw near to us even when we don’t see it. We love you Lord, Amen.

Assurance of Pardon:

In the scriptures we find assurances of our forgiveness and encouragement in our walk. So hear these words from John 6 and rest in their truth for us…

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day.  For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
