Confession Prayer Week of February 8th, 2026

Feb 8, 2026

Call to Confession:

As we enter into a time of confession together, a way we regularly take seriously our sin and lay it before God, let’s prepare our hearts by hearing these words from Psalm 2:

Now therefore, O kings, be wise;

    be warned, O rulers of the earth.

Serve the Lord with fear,

    and rejoice with trembling.

Kiss the Son,

    lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,

    for his wrath is quickly kindled.

Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

Prayer of Confession:

Heavenly Father, We confess with our lips the blessedness of taking refuge in you, but our lives often proclaim a different story. We sing of the wonders of your word, but have grumbled and complained in our hearts about what your wisdom calls us to. We declare that we long for your coming, but in truth are more often wrapped up in the gifts that you give us than in you yourself. Father, forgive us.

Lord Jesus, thank you that you are the King who rules in truth and grace. Thank you that you rejoiced perfectly in your Father’s wisdom and took refuge in Him during life’s storms. Holy Spirit, give us renewed hearts that delight to serve and worship you and you alone. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon:

In the scriptures we find assurances of our forgiveness and encouragement in our walk.  So hear these words from Zephaniah 3 and rest in their truth for us…

Rejoice and exult with all your heart,

    O daughter of Jerusalem!

The Lord has taken away the judgments against you;

    he has cleared away your enemies.

The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst;

    you shall never again fear evil.

The Lord your God is in your midst,

    a mighty one who will save;

he will rejoice over you with gladness;

    he will quiet you by his love;

he will exult over you with loud singing.
