Confession Prayer Week of June 9, 2024

Jun 9, 2024

Call to Confession:

As we enter into a time of confession together, let’s prepare our hearts by hearing these words from Psalm 41:

I said, “O Lord, be gracious to me;

    heal me, for I have sinned against you!”

My enemies say of me in malice,

    “When will he die, and his name perish?”

But you, O Lord, be gracious to me,

    and raise me up, that I may repay them!

By this I know that you delight in me:

    my enemy will not shout in triumph over me.

But you have upheld me because of my integrity,

    and set me in your presence forever.

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,

    from everlasting to everlasting!

Prayer of Confession:

Holy God, we act against you every day. Sometimes in big ways, sometimes in small ways we may not even realize. Father forgive us for the ways we turn from you in the every day. Help us to notice the hurt this causes not just to us, but to our relationship with you and with others.

We have done nothing to deserve your forgiveness. Yet, by your grace, you still guide us, love us, and save us. Remind us every day of who you are, and who we are in you. Draw us to gratitude and praise, for you are worthy. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Assurance of Pardon:

In the scriptures we find assurances of our forgiveness and encouragement in our walk. So hear these words from Isaiah 12 and rest in their truth for us…

“I will give thanks to you, O Lord,

    for though you were angry with me,

your anger turned away,

    that you might comfort me.

“Behold, God is my salvation;

    I will trust, and will not be afraid;

for the Lord God is my strength and my song,

    and he has become my salvation.”

With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.
