Confession Prayer Week of November 24, 2024
Call to Confession:
As we enter into a time of confession together, let’s prepare our hearts by hearing these words from 1 John 4:
In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Prayer of Confession:
Heavenly Father,
Teach us that if Christ has satisfied your divine justice through his death and resurrection, that he can also deliver us from our sins. So often, we don’t believe this is possible, or we don’t believe ourselves worthy of this gift. Forgive us for not trusting who you are.
Lord, you have given us the Spirit of life to live within us and to help us follow you more closely. Help us not to rest in our own strength, but come to you with open hands, knowing we can trust you even when things are hard. Give us grace to admit what is true about us, and grace to see what is true about Christ. Let us see our sin and treasure our Savior. In your name we pray, Amen.
Assurance of Pardon:
In the scriptures we find assurances of our forgiveness and encouragement in our walk. So hear these words from John 3 and rest in their truth for us…
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
