Confession Prayer Week of August 24, 2025

Aug 24, 2025

Call to Confession:

As we enter into a time of confession together, a way we regularly take seriously our sin and lay it before God, let’s prepare our hearts by hearing these words from Hebrews 4:

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Prayer of Confession:

Mighty God, Your word pierces our hearts and sees the truth of our thoughts and intentions. It reveals our self-confidence and self-centeredness, as well as the sins we hide so well from one another. Father, forgive us.

Jesus, you see us and you love us. Help us to know that to the depth of our being. Help us confess to you regularly, that the dark might be brought to light. And in that, help us to see and love others as you do.

Holy Spirit, teach us to trust in you above all else. Remind us that we are now clothed in Christ’s perfect love. May we learn to live in it confidently and freely. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon:

In the scriptures we find assurances of our forgiveness and encouragement in our walk.  So hear the continuation of these words from Hebrews 4 and rest in their truth for us:

Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.  For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.  Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
