Confession Prayer Week of August 10, 2025

Call to Confession: 

As we enter into a time of confession together, a way we regularly take seriously our sin and lay it before God, let’s prepare our hearts by hearing these words from Psalm 84:

For the Lord God is a sun and shield;

    the Lord bestows favor and honor.

No good thing does he withhold

    from those who walk uprightly.

O Lord of hosts,

    blessed is the one who trusts in you!

Prayer of Confession: 

Lord God, thank you for your abundant grace and love to us in Jesus. You have shown us your faithfulness in the death and resurrection of your Son and have promised that you will not withhold any good thing from us.  

Yet we confess that we cannot walk uprightly as your word calls us to. We are often quick to grasp whatever blessings we can for ourselves and reluctant to trust in your perfect will. Forgive us.

Holy Spirit, help us to find our peace and refuge in God’s love. May we find our true blessing in him, so that we can stop our restless and sinful attempts to grasp blessings for ourselves. Let us instead rejoice that you have done all things well and that we have been so loved by our Savior. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon: 

In the scriptures we find assurances of our forgiveness and encouragement in our walk.  So hear these words from Romans 8 and rest in their truth for us:

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son
