Confession Prayer Week of February 9, 2025

Feb 9, 2025

Call to Confession:

As we enter into a time of confession together, let’s prepare our hearts by hearing these words from Matthew 13:

As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.

Prayer of Confession:

Holy Father,

Thank you for the ways you are always working and present in our lives, even when we cannot see it. Forgive us this week for all the noise and distraction that we allow to crowd out your voice and your movement. If we don’t see you, it is often because we are not paying attention well to our God who whispers into even the everyday moments of life.

Open our hearts, Lord, that our ears may hear and understand your Word and see how you are already at work. Help us to dedicate our whole selves to join in your ways and purposes. Truly, may our ears hear, may our eyes see, may our hands work. All so we can be living reminders of your grace among those we are with. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Assurance of Pardon:

In the scriptures we find assurances of our forgiveness and encouragement in our walk. So hear these words from Psalm 138 and rest in their truth for us:

I give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart;

    before the gods I sing your praise;

I bow down toward your holy temple

    and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness,

    for you have exalted above all things

    your name and your word.

On the day I called, you answered me;

    my strength of soul you increased.
