Confession Prayer Week of November 10, 2024

Call to Confession: 

As we enter into a time of confession together, let’s prepare our hearts by hearing these words from Hebrews 4:

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Prayer of Confession: 

Our God and Creator of all life,

We confess our neglect of your Word. Your scriptures are so available and accessible to us and yet we often leave them unread, unopened, and untouched. It is too easy to for us to prioritize you last. Father, forgive us.

Jesus, even though you are the Word made flesh, thank you for living in complete dependence on your Father’s word. Holy Spirit, teach us to do the same. Help us to find refuge and guidance in your word, but mostly help us to see who you are and draw closer to you. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Assurance of Pardon: 

In the scriptures we find assurances of our forgiveness and encouragement in our walk. So hear these words from John 1 and rest in their truth for us…

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
