Confession Prayer Week of August 3, 2025
Call to Confession:
As we enter into a time of confession together, a way we regularly take seriously our sin and lay it before God, let’s prepare our hearts by hearing these words from Galatians 2:
But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we too were found to be sinners, is Christ then a servant of sin? Certainly not! For if I rebuild what I tore down, I prove myself to be a transgressor. For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God.
Prayer of Confession:
Loving God, open our hearts that we might be able to come to you with the fullness of our lives. We confess that we often try to keep parts hidden from you. Forgive us.
Help us to praise you in all that is beautiful and good. Help us to bring you our sorrows so we don’t have to carry them alone. Help us to repent of the things that are hurtful or hateful. Help our lives to reflect you more. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Assurance of Pardon:
In the scriptures we find assurances of our forgiveness and encouragement in our walk. So hear the continuation of these words from Galatians 2 and rest in their truth for us:
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
