Confession Prayer Week of May 10, 2026
Call to Confession:
As we enter into a time of confession together, a way we regularly take seriously our sin and lay it before God, let’s prepare our hearts by hearing these words from 1 John 3:
And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.
Prayer of Confession:
Merciful and Gracious God,
We come before you as people who need to see you with clear vision. We need to behold your majesty in order to feel our smallness. We need to gaze upon your holiness in order to recognize our sinfulness. We need to see your humble sacrifice at the cross in order to know how truly loved we are.
Father, forgive us for the ways we have taken your love for granted this week. Help us to lay down the things we have put in the way of coming to you. Lord Jesus, thank you for your mercy and grace. Thank you that your blessing upon us is sure and immovable, rooted and grounded in your unchanging character and love. Help us to draw ever closer to you. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon:
In the scriptures we find assurances of our forgiveness and encouragement in our walk. So hear these words from Ephesians 1 and rest in their truth for us:
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.
