Confession Prayer Week of December 15, 2024

Call to Confession: 

As we enter into a time of confession together, let’s prepare our hearts by hearing these words from 1 Peter 5:

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Prayer of Confession: 

Loving Father,

We come to you with humble spirits, praying together that you will grant us a deeper understanding of ourselves, our sin, and our Savior. We confess that instead of waiting on you to exalt us, we have tried to do it ourselves. We stew in anxiety or pride, quietly and secretly doubting that you care for us. Forgive us Lord.  

The depth of your mercy is truly amazing. Thank you for sending Jesus to live perfectly on the behalf of his chosen ones, including broken, proud, and anxious people like us. In all things Lord, lift our eyes to the saving, helping, steady love of our wonderful Savior, in whose name we pray today. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon: 

In the scriptures we find assurances of our forgiveness and encouragement in our walk. So hear these words from 1 Peter 5 and rest in their truth for us:

And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
