Confession Prayer Week of April 6, 2025

Call to Confession: 

As we enter into a time of confession together, let’s prepare our hearts by hearing these words from Exodus 20:

Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.

Prayer of Confession: 

Heavenly Father,

You alone are worthy of all honor and praise. Creation is full of your glory, and you alone fill it all with life and purpose. Father, forgive us for the ways we take this for granted.  

As children, we fail to honor our parents and you. As parents, we can hold onto anger or self-righteousness, which makes it hard to show and teach your love. Lord, teach us your mercy instead.

Holy Spirit, help us to love and honor every person, in all life stages, as you have taught us to. As we have received mercy, may we share it with others. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Assurance of Pardon: 

In the scriptures we find assurances of our forgiveness and encouragement in our walk. So hear these words from 1 Peter 2 and rest in their truth for us:

As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious,  you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house… So the honor is for you who believe… you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
