Confession Prayer Week of May 26, 2024

May 26, 2024

Call to Confession:

As we enter into a time of confession together, let’s prepare our hearts by hearing these words from Psalm 25:

To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.

O my God, in you I trust;

    let me not be put to shame;

    let not my enemies exult over me.

Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame;

    they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous.

Make me to know your ways, O Lord;

    teach me your paths.

Lead me in your truth and teach me,

    for you are the God of my salvation;

    for you I wait all the day long.

Prayer of Confession:

Heavenly Father, it is to you we lift up our souls this morning. Thank you for your word that reminds us to put our trust in you. For you are worthy of our trust as the God of our salvation and the one who is completely faithful.

Forgive us Father, for the ways we try to do life on our own, and on our own terms. Help us instead to lay down the things that keep us from you, and help us to stay humble and open to how you might guide us. Grow us to be the people you’ve called us to be.

We love you Lord, and we know that following you is the best way forward, even when it is hard or we don’t understand your ways. Thank you for Jesus, who came that we might know you. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon:

In the scriptures we find assurances of our forgiveness and encouragement in our walk. So hear the continuation of Psalm 25 and rest in its truth for us…

Remember your mercy, O Lord, and your steadfast love,

    for they have been from of old.

Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions;

    according to your steadfast love remember me,

    for the sake of your goodness, O Lord!

Good and upright is the Lord;

    therefore he instructs sinners in the way.

He leads the humble in what is right,

    and teaches the humble his way.

All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness,

    for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.
